Suggestions - Give them now or never!

Suggestions - Give them now or never!

Just got word from my editor that all my selections for reprints must be into them by August 15th, 2014 - just over a month from now.

So, if you have any suggestions as to full articles or pieces that are absolute musts for this book - please leave them in the comments.

I have a complete archive of all the issues of White Noise, Fun, and Orbit. So, I'm sure I can find what you remember in the stacks.

Also, please let folks know about the book on facebook and twitter and follow for updates there.

THANKS!

  1. I will absolutely never forget your various calls with customer service complaining about how Crunchberries were hurting the roof of your mouth. That was a classic.

  2. There is no Iowa and the 1998 Judas Priest concert review, please!

  3. Great suggestions. I don't think we can talk about ORBIT without talking about some of the humor features. So, Tess... I'm willing to be a "Truther than Strange" will be in there.

Fejwe - totally agree! Do you remember the one about hot soup in waffle bowls? That's a classic!

Kris - I'll look into those! Thanks!

  4. The Scooby-Doo/Satanic cult article (which was in both FUN and Orbit) the the April Fool's review for "Island", which was a thinly-veiled gritty reboot of Gilligan's Island (back when such a thing was a gag as opposed to a real Hollywood pitch). My husband suggests the best of Ask Orby/Ask Baby Jingo, and Orby's Heroes.

    1. Susan,

Great choices! I know the Scooby-Doo one is a fan favorite. Also, "The Island" was part of an April Fool's that also saw a review of a place that served various types of rodents downriver. Both Chris Kassel and Paul Zimmerman talked about the reviews of both in their interviews. So, I'm sure that will make it.

Also, the Ask Orby/Baby Jingo... yes! Do you remember "Ask Minnie"? That was the cat who gave love/sex advice?

      Thanks for the ideas!

  5. "The best spring break ever" in FUN. I still quote lines from that piece even now. Also, The Charlie Brown cartoon in FUN.
